Give with your heart
There is no better time to support HFA and our students than during UMassGives.
The most valuable gift you can give to students is supported through the College of Humanities and Fine Arts. Help us ensure that ample funds are available to meet a greatly increased need for academic assistance through scholarships and internship assistance grants.
You can help make UMassGives as successful as possible by giving with your heart. In 2019, HFA received 883 gifts totaling $81,343. These vital funds supported our students through scholarships, internships, and augmented department initiatives.
Please participate in whatever way makes the most sense to you, including helping to promote UMassGives on your social media!
A Power Hour for HFA’s Internship Assistance Fund will take place on April 30 @ 12 noon! The designation that receives the most gifts during this hour will receive a $2,000 bonus; second place will receive an additional $500 toward direct support for internships.
Student Support
Emma Chisholm, '21, Music (BMus) and Microbiology
Recipient of the Campbell Klock Horn Studio Award
“During this next year, I will be preparing for graduate school auditions because I intend to get my MFA in Horn Performance. This award has been a great reassurance in pursuing this.”
James Cordero '21, English (BA), Social Thought & Political Econ, and Member of the Commonwealth Honors College Recipient of the John and Donna Farrelly Scholarship in English
“After graduation, I hope to become a teacher and create curriculum that is explicitly inclusive for students of all identities. This award will make my undergraduate career more affordable, and allow me to save money for the eventual Master’s degree that all teachers need to complete to be fully certified.”
Celena Lopes ’21, Theater and African American Studies Recipient of the Ed Golden Acting Scholarship
“Focusing on my craft can be very difficult when I have to work part-time and be a student full-time. I do this so I can pay for food and rent. This scholarship will help alleviate that burden and with that extra time, I’ll be able to put more heart and soul into my drama work. The theater is what makes life worthwhile for me and it elates me to think that my work was enough for me to be chosen to be the recipient of this award.”
