Graduate students are at the core of UMass Amherst’s research enterprise—they invest thousands of hours into running experiments collecting data, and analyzing results. In 2020, many of the over 1,000 graduate students in the College of Natural Sciences were unable to carry on or complete their research work due to mandatory laboratory closures, social-distancing requirements, and travel restrictions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Delays in their research affect our graduate students’ ability to complete their degrees on time. Compounding this crisis, grant funds from last year are ending.
You can help this year by contributing to the CNS Graduate Student Fellowship Fund, which provides additional funding for students who need to extend their work or for those whose grant money has run out. Consider making your gift during the 11 a.m. – Noon Power Hour on April 30 when the school, college, program, or department with the most individual donations will win an additional $2,000.
While the College of Natural Sciences is focusing on graduate student support, below are links to other areas in the College that you can support during UMassGives. No matter what you choose, be sure to share why you gave on social media. Thank you!
