Rocking the Introductory Classroom #UMassGivesROCKS
UMass Geosciences has a long-standing international reputation for excellence in undergraduate education and graduate research. We explore Earth’s past and present and train students to think decades to centuries into the future.
In examining and addressing the key environmental challenges that we humans are facing today, we use relevant and rigorous tools, from theoretical and conceptual to descriptive and analytical, from mapping to modeling.
To continue to improve the learning experiences of our undergraduates, we are introducing a new curriculum for exploring physical models of Earth processes. Upgrading our introductory laboratory instruction classroom and outfitting it with polished rock tabletops will give our students essential, tangible tools for their explorations.
Our goal is to raise $25,000 for the classroom upgrade. We already have $4,000 toward that goal, so we are on our way! Please join us during UMassGives and support discovery in Geosciences.
