Help the Libraries Set Textbooks Free
UMass Amherst students spend roughly $1,200 per year on textbooks, often adding to their already considerable debt. The Libraries are on a mission to save UMass Amherst students from costly textbooks by encouraging UMass faculty to swap traditional texts for online, printable resources already available through the Libraries.
The Libraries have awarded $100,000 in grants to 60 faculty to convert their course materials, saving UMass Amherst students $1.6M in textbook costs in the last six years. Nearly 90 percent of students surveyed found the quality of the low or no-cost materials to be the same or better than materials used in other courses.
Your gift to the Library Annual Fund during #UMassGives will help the Libraries continue to reduce the cost of textbooks for students while supporting their academic success! Thank you.
