Participate in #UMassGives and make a direct impact on student lives! Your gift can contribute to a scholarship that will help a student in financial need. It can provide funds enabling a student to take on an unpaid internship. It can contribute to helping us build world-class teaching facilities. You choose.
Every year, we strive to provide more and more students with the support and opportunities they need to succeed. With your help, we can make 2017 a record-breaking year!
What Should I Give?
Simple: whatever you are comfortable with! Every bit counts.
You can also participate in our #5ForSBS campaign, and give $5 for every year since you’ve graduated from UMass. Simply donate and show off a little on social media by using #5ForSBS and #UMassGives when you say why giving is important to you. We also encourage you to tag 5 friends to bring awareness to the campaign and the opportunity to participate.
#UMassGives Life-Changing Opportunities:
“I would describe myself as a highly motivated individual with a creative mindset and vigorous work ethic. Producing film is my passion. Through course work I have mastered exceptional writing, editing and video production skills. This internship has given me the confidence to continue to take initiative and go above and beyond. Living in New York City has allowed me a feeling of unprecedented independence and self-reliance. I am looking forward to my graduation from UMass in 2018 knowing that by the time I reach that benchmark, due to completing this internship and having enjoyed the support from this scholarship, I will be more than ready to succeed.”

2016 intern for Apostle Pictures Inc
Thanks to this scholarship I was able to spend my last undergraduate semester in Brazil. As a journalism and Portuguese double major, I wanted to prioritize improving my language skills. I set out to arrange the most immersive experience possible, living with a local family and taking four out of five of my classes completely in Portuguese. I also participated in an all-Portuguese internship where I was tested to communicate with Brazilians on a professional level.
By the end of the four months, I am confident to say that I speak strongly and comfortably which was my most important goal.
