Second challenge gift! $2,000 by an anonymous @UMass alum; need to eclipse 650 donors. We're making a mark!
Thank you to Dr. James ’77 and Ellen ’77 Hunt who have committed $2,500 to UMass Athletics after the 400 donor threshold was crossed. A big “THANKS” to Jim and Ellen for the challenge!
For The Minutemen Club, the umbrella fundraising organization for UMass Athletics, raises money each year for student-athlete support and the general athletics operating budget. The goal for the athletics department is to raise $110,000, and secure at least 850 donors over the two-day span of #UMassGives. This includes gifts to the Minutemen Club, or to any of the 21 sports programs.
For our alumni student athletes, we will have an additional opportunity to help the current student athletes. The athletic department has created a Student-Athlete Alumni Challenge, where the team with the most alumni participation wins! The team with the highest percentage of alumni giving over the two-day period will receive an additional $5,000 that will go directly to support the current team and student-athletes. The program that finishes second will receive $3,000 and the third-place squad will receive a sum of $1,000.
We are asking those who have already made a commitment this year to make an additional gift over the two-day period. We are also asking those who have not yet committed to step-up and help us reach our goals. It’s not about the amount of the gift, it’s about participation and encouraging others to make a gift as well.
For example, we have 21 sports. Make a $21 gift. Or if you graduated in 1997, make a $19.97 gift. Be creative, have fun, and make an impact on the day.
All gifts that come in from 12:01 a.m. on April 27 through 11:59 p.m. April 28 will count towards #UMassGives.
