The UMass Belly Dance Club has been an RSO at UMass since 2011. We have fifty active members this semester who perform for RSO, fundraising, and charity events throughout the UMass campus and Amherst community. Our mission is to teach UMass students about the culture, technique, and history behind the ancient art of belly dance while simultaneously helping students raise their self esteem and learn to love their bodies in an inclusive, welcoming environment.
We are highly involved with community service initiatives such as volunteering and doing a collection drive for Craig's Place Homeless shelter, teaching free belly dance workshops, performing for fundraising events, and most recently, raising funds to donate to Bowker Auditorium renovations through co-hosting a mixed movement arts show in March entitled The MoveMeant.
Thank you for supporting our RSO!
