During UMassGives Commonwealth Honors College is raising funds for our donor-funded Commonwealth Honors College Community Scholarships. Generous gifts from alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students and friends help make this award possible, providing scholarships for first-year students who are often first-generation.
Matt Mejail received a Commonwealth Honors College Community Scholarship as a first-year student. Now a sophomore double majoring in public health sciences and community education and social change, Matt shares what this award means to him:
“I’ve been able to pursue amazing opportunities with the aid of the Commonwealth Honors College Community Scholarship. I’ve come so far in my short time here at UMass by switching majors, becoming a TA, and joining the Community Scholars Program. I can’t wait to see where the rest of my journey will take me, all of which is possible through the generosity of donors like you.
In the future, I plan to take the next step past the undergraduate level, something that’s really important to me. Thanks to the thoughtful and meaningful contributions of so many donors I’m confident that I’ll be able to pursue that goal, too. Thank you!”
Please join us in making sure that support for students like Matt continues! Last year, thanks to the generosity of 95 donors during the course of UMassGives, over $9,000 was raised for the Commonwealth Honors College Community Scholarship fund. With your gift during UMassGives we can once again raise funds for this scholarship and show our students how much this community cares for them!
