Since 1971, the Sylvan Snack Bar has been the spot for evening and late night dining for UMass students, serving quesadillas, calzones, subs, frappes and more, making it the oldest student-run business on campus. We are a non-profit, cooperative food business located in McNamara Hall in the Sylvan Residential Area.
This year in particular, we’ve welcomed an especially large community of students that are experiencing campus life for the first time. As we’ve reopened, we’ve strived to exceed our new and loyal customers’ expectations, but we’ve been limited by outdated kitchen equipment. We hope to improve our efficiency in the kitchen and increase customer satisfaction by upgrading kitchen equipment such as ‘dilla makers in order to provide the UMass community with the highest quality service possible! In addition to more modern appliances, we aim to direct a portion of these funds towards decorating the Sylvan Snack Bar. It’s come a long way from being a student luggage closet in the 60’s, but we want to make the space even better! With your help, we hope to strengthen our customer base and provide better, faster service for all of UMass.
The Sylvan Snack Bar has been a cornerstone of the UMass community for the past fifty-one years, and we intend to continue the amazing legacy that we’ve inherited. We hope to continually provide a better experience for our customers as the years go on, and we greatly appreciate any assistance you can provide!
