The Graduate Student Senate (GSS) is the autonomous governance and advocacy body for all UMass Amherst Graduate Students. The GSS represents graduate student needs to university administrators & faculty, provides resources and funding to Graduate Student Organizations (GSOs), organizes community building and professional development events, funds graduate student assistantships, in addition to many other campaigns and programs.
The GSS currently allocates $80,000 in fall and spring childcare grants to graduate student parents, and financially and logistically supports student agencies such as the Student Parent Programs and Center for Women and Community. The GSS is expanding our internal direct-to-student financial support programing by establishing three new funding programs, including a summer childcare grant for student parents, to help graduate students be able to thrive and reach their academic goals.
