The Italian Studies program at UMass Amherst provides students with the opportunity to explore Italy in so many ways. Through our course offerings, departmental events and initiatives, and dedicated faculty, students are able to speak, read, write and engage with the Italian language and culture on a number of levels. But in order to truly understand a language, a culture, and its people, one must experience it in person!
Italy has historically been one of UMass’s most popular study abroad destinations, but the pandemic has had a significant effect on all of our international programs. Our aim is to restore this opportunity to experience Italian culture firsthand to as many of our students as possible. That’s why we are requesting donations for an Italian Studies study abroad fund, which will provide financial assistance to students planning on study abroad in the upcoming 2022-23 academic year. Whether they choose our spring program in Siena, a semester at the University of Forlì, or one of the other excellent offerings from the International Programs Office, students can apply for these funds through the Italian Studies department for additional assistance during their semester abroad.
Please give so that our students can experience the wonder of Italian language and culture outside of the classroom – as many of our faculty members and past students can attest, studying abroad can truly change your life!
