The UMass Theatre Guild is a volunteer organization committed to facilitating student-run, theatre-oriented experiences for UMass students and the community. Its origins go back to 1906, when the College Orchestra, Glee Club, and Mandolin Club united to stage small theatrical productions as the Musical Association. Over the years, the organization has staged everything from operettas and Shakespeare to student-written plays and contemporary theatre. Recently, the organization put on its first online Radio show production of Twelfth Night in the Fall 2020 semester and again with Hysterics and Other Adverse Reactions to Sudden Encounters with Death in the Spring 2021 semester. In Fall 2021, the Guild was back for in-person theater with productions of Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery and Falsettos. As an entirely student-run organization, we have to obtain rights, build sets, design costumes, print posters, mainstage storage, etc. All of these costs of theater of course tend to add up extremely quickly. Our organization thanks you from the bottom of our hearts for considering donating to us and allowing us to continue doing what we love.
