What Is BDIC?
Founded in 1970, the Bachelor's Degree with Individual Concentration is the only major at UMass Amherst which allows students to create their own interdisciplinary degree. Our students are resourceful, broad-minded, and entrepreneurial. Our department is a testing ground for new ideas, and has been responsible for incubating various popular emergent degrees and departments at the university including Women's Studies, Legal Studies, STPEC, Computer Science, Public Health, Sustainable Foods and Farming, and Informatics. Now more than ever, there is a need for those who can use their talent, vision and ingenuity to build bridges, and BDIC is the home for those students at UMass.
Why Support BDIC?
BDIC is excited to participate in UMassGives for the first time this year, and all funds raised during the event will go to support our students through two newly launched funds: BDIC Abroad supporting students participating in international programs, and the Community Fund, supporting networking and community events.
BDIC Global Partner Matching Grants
Thanks to generous support from our network of interdisciplinary partners, we are thrilled to announce that every donation up to $2,000 will be matched!
