COLLEGE OF INFORMATION AND COMPUTER SCIENCES
Empower the next generation of computer scientists
Last year, with help from our amazing CICS community, funds raised through #UMassGives significantly bolstered scholarship awards- a critical need in our growing college. This generosity, coupled with that of our donors throughout the year, allowed us to award twenty of our highest-achieving students with scholarships.
This year we will again focus on the needs of our students during #UMassGives. As our college grows rapidly we strive to provide more scholarship support and opportunity to our students. Help us reach our goal to double the number of scholarships awarded to CICS students this year by making a gift today!

If your gift to “Computer Sciences Scholarships” is made during our “power hour,” between 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm on April 30, CICS could be eligible to win an additional $2,000!
Thank you for your generous support of the College of Information and Computer Sciences.
Here’s how our students benefit from the opportunities we provide:
"I've made awesome connections with the faculty here. I'm polishing up my writing and my presentation skills, conducting research, and learning leadership skills. CICS also gives us access to a lot of summer internships, so I've been able to build up my resume and explore various parts of computer science. I feel very ready and excited to take on graduate school!" - Anjali Devakumar BS '19
“When I experienced the Tapia conference, it was amazing to be able to see such a diverse group of computer science students; so many people that had different passions, levels of knowledge… and overall just different approaches to computer science.” – Jack Bachman BS '21
“Discouraging moments are an inevitable part of grad school. The fact that the scholarship committee believes in my potential is something that will help me keep a calm mind through hardships.” – Neha Nayak PhD '24
“I aspire to be a professor where I can continue to share my love of computer science with others. I will use skills I have developed as a grad student to show others that anyone can do computer science, and bring individuals into the community who have been historically marginalized.” - Alyx Burns PhD '23
