The UMass Comedy League is the umbrella organization of UMass Amherst's premiere comedy troupes: Mission:IMPROVable, Sketch 22, and Toast!
Mission: IMPROVable, a short form improv troupe, has been bringing comedy to campus since 1991. Mission: IMPROVable combines short punchy games interspersed with musical dance breaks to create a unique and high energy comedy show.
Sketch 22 writes, produces, directs, and performs their own short comedic sketches. Sketch 22 performs up to four times a semester in a high-paced, high-tech, hour-length show.
Toast! is a long-form improv comedy troupe. Taking a suggestion to start the show, Toast! then moves into a full feature production where anything can happen. Toast! prides itself on presenting weekly shows to entertain the UMass campus, as well as travelling the country teaching workshops and spreading laughs.
We perform EVERY Friday and Saturday during the semester in Herter 231 at 8pm for FREE! In order to continue bringing free comedy to the UMass Campus every weekend, we need YOUR help! Every year the UMass Comedy League puts on our annual Comedy Jam; a weekend long FREE comedy showcase featuring all three UMass Comedy League troupes as well as various professional acts from around the country. In order to fund the Comedy Jam, we rely solely on our allocated budget and money raised throughout the academic year. In addition to the Comedy Jam, all three UMass Comedy League troupes attend festivals and competitions throughout the country and require funding for transportation and housing. These festivals include; Del Close Marathon, Sketchfest NYC, and ImprovBoston’s College Comedy Festival.
The UMass Comedy League has been providing FREE comedy to the UMass campus for almost 30 years. We hope to continue to do so for 30 more...with YOUR help!
