For 40 years, the Translation Center has been offering translation- and interpreting-related services that exhibit a deep understanding of and care for language to clients in Western Massachusetts and beyond. As part of a rigorous academic setting that is connected to scholarship, professional organizations, a rich network of translators, and a unique international community, the Translation Center has an outstanding reputation both nationally and internationally. In addition, the Translation Center provides opportunities to students to develop their translation and interpreting skills that they learn in the classroom, and creates and supports ways in which students can experience the intersection of research and practice.
The Translation Center invests proceeds in teaching, research, and other activities. This year we are raising money so that we can continue to generously sponsor translation- and language-related activities at UMASS. More ambitiously, we hope to expand our own offering of educational activities for anyone from the general public interested in translation, including but not limited to students, educators, scholars, and translators from anywhere. These activities include plans for a workshop series, an international seminar, and a podcast. As we celebrate our 40th anniversary, we look forward to your support so that we may move confidently into a new era!
