UMass Club Water Polo is a student-run organization that competes in the Collegiate Water Polo Association's New England and Colonial divisions. This past fall our men's team place 3rd in the championships and the previous spring our women's team placed 5th overall. The club works to maintain a professional relationship with the league and the other programs in New England. Water polo offers UMass students the ability to remain active, learn a new sport and foster community through competition.
The club is funded mostly through dues from players and fundraisers such as our home tournament and clothing sale. Any donations raised would go towards the team's travel and equipment expenses. This is in an effort to keep the club dues affordable, such that being on the team is determined by skill and spirit rather than income.
This year we were forced to buy two brand new goals due to the disrepair of the goals we inherited from the UMass NCAA team 15 years ago. This purchase was in total about $2,700 and has put stress on the teams financial standing for next season. We hope to raise at least $1,000 to recoup the costs of the goal and buy things that we need but have been unable to afford such as a scoreboard, equipment storage containers, and ball bags. Please help support UMass Club Water Polo, even if you can only give a few dollars. Any donation would be greatly appreciated.
