If you've ever had a transformative experience traveling, you can give the same experience to a nursing student during UMassGives anytime Wednesday April 24 or Thursday April 25, and especially during our Power Hour on April 25 2-3 p.m. The nursing study abroad program was grounded due to the pandemic, so you can imagine how excited students are to transition from Zoom screens to taking flight and studying Nursing for a semester in Spain.
Sophomore Maria Loew recently returned in December from studying at Universidad CEU San Pablo, and had this to say about her experience:
"The study abroad experience was one of the best experiences of my life! Not only did I get the opportunity to explore Spain and practice my Spanish, but I also got to travel to many surrounding countries in Europe as well. We also got so many opportunities to learn about the healthcare system in Spain and how it differs from the US. With our professors we had the opportunity to visit multiple hospitals and long term care facilities. It was a great opportunity to compare and contrast the US systems with Spain as well as discuss the pros and cons of both systems.
Getting to experience another culture and live in another country while still staying on track as a nursing student is something that many programs don't offer! I feel so thankful to have had this study abroad experience."
We want to provide assistance to students so they can have the magnificent experience of studying abroad and having learning opportunities not available in the states.
You can empower a student like Maria to have a life-changing travel experience that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
