What is the Holland Prize for Ecological Writing?
This will be an annual prize that recognizes exceptional ecological writing by graduate students in the College of Humanities and Fine Arts and the College of Natural Sciences. Students who have taken a course in the environmental humanities or sustainability sciences will be eligible for the Holland Prize.
The prize recognizes Noy's longstanding commitment to mentoring apprentice writers, to community engagement, and to her efforts to address climate change through interdisciplinary work on and beyond the UMass campus.
How can I help?
Your gift to the Professor Noy Holland Prize for Ecological Writing fund will help establish an endowment at UMass Amherst to provide ongoing funding for the prize, demonstrate our commitment to recognizing ecologies in crisis, and to create a campus model that celebrates writing across disciplines.
We need to raise $25,000 to create an endowment and have set an ambitious goal of $5,000 for this year. Although we have five years to secure $25K, we'd like to give the prize out as soon as possible! We encourage you to consider a multi-year gift to help us achieve this important goal.
