Transit Services

Hello UMass Transit Services Friends & Alumni! The pandemic put a hold on many projects over the past couple of years, but we were able to renew one in particular last year- the Transit Services Annual Scholarship! With help from so many of you, we successfully raised over $7,000 for our scholarship fund during last year's UMassGives campaign. The 2021 recipient of the scholarship award was Saida Gamidova!

As some of you may know, our beloved General Manager of 30 years- Glenn Barrington- is retiring this year. Glenn helped establish this scholarship in 2019, and as he put it: "the enormous generosity of our Alum has since built it beyond expectation." We are hoping for another successful campaign in 2022, to top our proceeds from last year and see Glenn out with a bang!

Your donations will help build this scholarship to provide two (2) $1,000 scholarship awards to two of Transit Services' hardest working student employees each year. Our ultimate goal is to increase the amount in our fund so that this award can be established in perpetuity and eventually provide four (4) $1,000 scholarships to four Transit student employees each year who meet the following criteria:

  1. a minimum GPA of 3.0
  2. entering their junior or senior year
  3. have worked 300 or more hours per semester for two semesters
  4. have demonstrated financial need
  5. are full-time students
  6. have an exceptional work ethic
  7. show exemplary leadership within UMTS
