The Center for Multicultural Advancement and Student Success (CMASS) supports the student success and sense of belonging of first-generation, students of color, multiracial students, foster youth, and low-income students. CMASS fosters support through Success Coaching, Graduate School Preparation, outreach, and cultural activities.
If you have been part of CMASS or one of its previous affinity programs such as C.C.E.B.M.S., the Bilingual Collegiate Program, Native American Student Support Services, or the United Asian Learning Resource Center, we encourage you to join us today and tomorrow to help us fundraise to support students!
Last year you helped us establish an endowment fund to provide $1,000 in scholarships annually after fund matures. This year you can help us grow it or fund culturally enriching activities. Your choice!
• Success Coaching is a service offered to undergraduate students affiliated with CMASS. Coaching is an asset-based model of identifying goals and action plans to accomplish academic and personal aspirations. Students meet with their success coach as many times as needed for ongoing support and referrals.
• Each One Reach One Mentoring Program provides mentorship to students pursuing graduate school. Students in this program participate in writing workshops, network with graduate students and receive feedback on their admission application materials.
• Cultural Connections happens every year on the first Thursday of the fall semester to welcome students to campus. This event features cultural food samples, entertainment, raffles, and networking with faculty, staff, and campus resources.
The Cultural Centers affirm the cultural expression, pride, and engagement of students of color through programs that celebrate cultural traditions and deepen students’ understanding of their own and others’ multifaceted identities.
