Mock Trial Team

Mock Trial is a team-based competition where participants assume the roles of attorneys and witnesses to craft a simulated court case. In collegiate Mock Trial, teams compete against other colleges and universities from across the country in pursuit of the American Mock Trial Association's National Championship. Competitions simulate a real trial, using either a civil or criminal case. This requires teams to prepare by interpreting legal cases, crafting unique theories, speaking persuasively through opening and closing statements, writing direct and cross-examinations, and portraying compelling witnesses.

Mock Trial at UMass Amherst adds two extra elements to speaking, debating, and acting: winning and having fun! Our goal is to have fun working together, make lifelong friends, and benefit from our hard work, all in the pursuit of the National Championship each year. We are coming off of our most successful season in program history, and look to get even further next year, but we need your help!

UMass Mock is one of only a few collegiate Mock Trial teams that is entirely student-run. This helps us create great learning opportunities and allows members to gain real-life experience in many aspects of running an organization. While being an entirely student-run organization is rewarding, members of UMass Mock Trial are responsible for paying for several types of expenses for competitions. Competitions often become expensive with the costs of travel, food, and lodging. Consider donating to this amazing student organization! Go, UMass Mock!
