Consider making your gift during the 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Power Hour on April 30, when the area of campus with the most individual donations will win an additional $2,000.
More than 60% of UMass Amherst students qualify for need-based financial aid. Generosity from our community of alumni, students, parents, faculty, and staff is essential to keeping a UMass Amherst education open and accessible to as many qualified students as possible. We ask you to support the Cape Cod Alumni Network Scholarship during UMassGives this year.
The Cape Cod Alumni Network is raising funds in order to provide nine scholarships ranging from $3,000 to $4,000 to promising high school graduates. Every dollar raised goes directly to these scholarships, and the need for your support is greater than ever before. COVID-19 has taken a terrible toll, especially in the service industry where many Cape Cod families work. In addition, students have had to complete high school and make college decisions in the middle of a pandemic. This has meant online rather than in-person classes, cancellation of sports and extracurricular activities, and the loss of part-time jobs, which many students rely on to help pay for college.
Hear what a few previous scholarship recipients had to say:
“A few days after making my decision, I received a call that I was receiving a UMass Amherst Cape Cod Alumni scholarship. I attended the dinner where alumni I met helped me reaffirm that I had selected the right school.… I felt a part of the UMass community before I stepped into a classroom. And, the scholarship allowed me to focus more on my studies and campus involvement and less on expenses.”
—McKenna J. Meagher ’22
“UMass taught me about independence, leadership, critical thinking, decision making, and how to take mistakes and turn them into opportunities.… I am now at UMass Medical School where I work closely with grad students and researchers writing scientific articles on their work and experiments.”
—Kylee Deneesha ’17
“My time at UMass gave me a perspective of humanity and cutting-edge science.… The astronomy department has given me the opportunity to observe with a 50-m radio telescope in Mexico and a dozen telescopes across the planet, which launched my PhD career.”
—Kevin Harrington ’16
