The UMass Alpine Ski Team is a club of devoted ski racers who train and compete in the MacConnell Division of the United States Collegiate Ski Association. We hold pre-season dryland training during the fall semester in order to foster healthy team relationships and to gain strength for safe and competitive skiing. Our team practices at Berkshire East in Charlemont, MA usually around 40-50 days of the year! All equipment necessary for ski racing is provided by the team, bought over the years from funds raised by the team through fundraising efforts like UMassGives.
Currently, many of our gates are in need of replacing — gates break throughout general use and lose their functionality — in order to be able to set a full course to get the most out of practice. Having enough gates to set a full-length course allows the team to build their endurance in order to compete at the high level present in the MacConnell Division. With many strong racers on our team and coming back from a year with no training due to COVID being able to buy gates would allow the team to come back strong for the 2021-2022 season! Additionally, we are hoping to replace our panels as our current ones are 10+ years old!
We appreciate all of your support, we hope to get out on the racecourse as soon as it is safe next year and it wouldn’t be possible without the help of our family, friends, and alumni! Thank you
