Indian Classical Arts Society

The Indian Classical Arts Society (ICAS) is an organization aimed to foster appreciation and awareness of the Indian Classical Arts, through education, performance, and a platform for students to pursue their artistic endeavors. Originating over 2000 years ago with 8 major classical dance forms and 2 major classical music traditions- our goal is to promote excellence in the practice of the Indian Classical Arts (ICA) by bringing together students with a passion for these arts, and cultivating an appreciation for the ICA among the UMass Amherst and Five College community. Furthermore, we hope to empower both students who are simply interested in ICA, as well as students who have been learning for years, with the tools to go deeper into their journeys with the arts.

Our organization has multiple showcases throughout the school year featuring our dancers and musicians. In order to bring the best quality, these performances require lots of stage equipment, costumes, lighting, props, etc. In addition, we are looking for a set of brand new instruments and dance costumes for future students. All contributions are greatly appreciated and we are so thankful for your support for keeping these art traditions alive.
