Through its interdisciplinary course offerings, the DACSS program equips its graduates with the ability to design research to support evidence-based decision-making; to work with large data sets using a range of analysis methods; and to communicate results both visually and in writing.
Students are trained to fill roles that either require cutting-edge data analysis and computational social science training or involve regular interaction with trained computer scientists and other data science professionals.
The program is also designed to attract and retain women and students from other populations typically underrepresented in computational social science.
By making a gift, you can help support immediate needs, such as:
• cloud-based computing resources that will enable instructors to offer innovative software tutorials and help students participate fully in remote computer labs;
• targeted graduate scholarships, and non-paying summer internships that may help students with the financial need to work through the summer to obtain full employment upon graduation;
• this summer’s Student Research Symposium and a Diversity in Social Data Science Leadership Academy, which will help prepare students for a tough job market.
Your gift could also provide vital support to faculty innovations for providing students with consistent, high-quality training in data analytics, feeding the longer-term goals of continuous course improvement.
