Powerlifting

The mission of UMass Powerlifting is to unite individuals with the desire to become stronger and compete in the sport of powerlifting together. Our long-term goal is to bring a team national title to UMass Amherst, spread our passion of strength development, and continue encouraging every individual to pick up a barbell.

Over the past few years, we have had a number of our members qualify and compete at the Collegiate Nationals, a national powerlifting competition with athletes from all across the country. In addition to powerlifting meets, our team also volunteers every semester. Some of our volunteering events range from spotting and loading at local powerlifting meets to pulling an airplane at the Pulling For Hope event in 2019 which raised over $5,000 for the American Cancer Society.

We would love to continue sharing this sport and educating those interested in building their strength, discipline, and growth in the upcoming years with competition-approved equipment to prepare our team for upcoming powerlifting meets. A donation to our team will go towards volunteering events, transportation fees for meets, bonding events for the team, and equipment for training.
