The Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR) promotes excellence in social science research across the University of Massachusetts Amherst. We provide support for researchers using social science methods, undertaking collaborative and interdisciplinary research, doing publicly engaged research, and seeking external funding for research. We serve as a research and training hub connecting faculty and students across campus, making UMass Amherst an international research leader on issues such as socioeconomic, racial, and gender equity, economic development and labor markets, global health and demographic transformations, and the societal impacts of new technologies and climate change.
Your gift will contribute to ISSR’s priority activities such as:
Training faculty and students in cutting-edge methodologies
Building interdisciplinary research collaborations
Fostering public-engaged social science
Building faculty capacity for research grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF), National Institutes for Health (NIH), and other sponsors
