The mission of UMass Club Gymnastics is to make the sport of gymnastics accessible to everyone in our community. Since its founding in 2014, the club has grown incredibly. In 2019, UMass Club Gymnastics was ready to field a competitive team for the first time since the University's Division I Men's and Women's varsity teams was cut in 2002. While the current public health crisis has delayed the return of UMass to the competitive scene, we have been working tirelessly to keep our club growing. We have almost doubled our numbers even as we've been limited to virtual meetings and workouts.
Your contribution to UMass Club Gymnastics helps us continue to promote the sport of gymnastics to our community. Our short-term goals include raising money to make the sport more accessible to our members. Gymnastics is very expensive and our goal is to start working towards reducing fees for our members. One of our biggest goals is to compete at NAIGC National Championships and represent UMass among some of the best clubs in the country. This would mean traveling across the country for the first time as a club. One of our long-term goals is to be able to bring gymnastics back onto the UMass campus. We currently have an air track that allows us to teach some gymnastics at the Rec Center, however, your support would allow us to purchase more mats and training tools that would give us the ability to hold full practices for both recreational and team members together on campus instead of offsite at a local gym.
Our mission is to run a cohesive club where both recreational and competitive team members feel welcome and supported. We will always be dedicated to encouraging anyone who wants to join us, whether they are beginners, they're returning to the sport, or they've been competing for years.
Your support will help us to keep UMass Club Gymnastics growing and evolving. You can learn more about our members and follow our journey on Instagram @umassgymnastics
