Welcome to Autism Awareness! Our club focuses on engaging the community in awareness, advocacy, and fundraising efforts to help those affected by autism.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve made a few changes to our club. For the fall 2020 semester, we focused on spreading awareness and participated in virtual fundraising events. We created a mask fundraiser, where we sold masks decorated with our club logo, so the community was able to support autism in a safe way. We were able to raise $132 and donated it to Whole Children, which is a program that offers classes and day programs for children and adults with disabilities. In addition, we created a virtual walk to spread awareness about autism. The turnout was great, and we have pictures posted on our Instagram page (@autismawareness_umass) if you'd like to see more! For the spring 2021 semester, we are planning to sell plants and painted pots (with our logo on them) in order to raise money, as well as a “Spread the Word to End the Word” event. This club fosters education about autism, involvement in our local community, and friendships between members of all majors and grades.
