Founded in 1995 by a small group of undergrads sharing a single boat, the University of Massachusetts Amherst club sailing team has come a long way from its humble roots. What makes our sailing team unique is the fact that many of our team members come from nautical homes, to Western Massachusetts, where the opportunities to sail are limited and the water to sail on is sparse. As a result, the team provides one of the few opportunities for thousands and thousands of UMass Amherst students to get on the water, gain real sailing experience, and have a great time doing it. But our team is growing faster than we can keep up with, and we need your help.
In just two years, we have grown from 10 sailors to 50, and we need your help to support the growing number of resources needed for so many sailors. While our entirely student-run team works very hard to fundraise as much as possible, we cannot succeed without donations. Your donation will help us accomplish our goal of getting our very own fleet of boats, which we currently do not have, and yet are essential for the longevity a successful sailing program. Any help towards our goal is immensely appreciated, as we try to grow the sport of sailing within the UMass community, as well as the 5 College and Amherst communities. Thanks so much for your help!
