UMassBRUT (www.umassbrut.org) is an award winning campaign designed to educate and advocate for the conservation, renovation, and reuse of Brutalist architecture throughout the UMass higher education state-wide community. Students, faculty and staff organize dozens of annual programs such as public tours, educational programs and exhibitions that inspire people to understand the complex history and formal grandeur of the mid-century modern architecture of the UMass Amherst campus, as well as system wide. The preservation of historic buildings is an essential climate action strategy. Donations to UMassBRUT will support the “Windows on UMass” exhibit at UMass Amherst in October 2024, which will also travel to the UMass Dartmouth and UMas Boston campuses. “Windows on UMass” celebrates cross-disciplinary student artwork from across UMass.
