UMassGives 2024

We are the UMass Amherst Student Chapter affiliated with the Polymeric Materials: Science and Engineering (PMSE) and Polymer Chemistry (POLY) Divisions of the American Chemical Society (ACS). Our chapter aims to provide opportunities for students to facilitate their scientific and professional growth. Each year, we host a seminar series featuring invited speakers from academia, industry, and government positions. We also hold writing retreats and opportunities to develop presentation skills, especially before conferences. We are excited to work in conjunction with existing groups within the UMass PSE department to co-host events for students at all stages of their PhD journey. All our events are advertised in departments across the university who have students working in the fields of polymers and soft matter, opening the door for students and postdocs to interact and network beyond their department. We also strive to be an inter-university tool for students to make connections with other institutions that conduct polymer and soft matter research and inspire academic and research collaborations that span beyond the walls of one department or one university. Additionally, our chapter collaborates with other ACS PMSE/POLY student chapters across the country to bring more polymer-focused events and opportunities to the UMass Amherst community and beyond.
