Undergraduate Student Child Care Scholarship

Help our students cover their childcare expenses!

We understand that being both a parent and a student presents its own unique set of challenges and by donating to the OFR CCTA fund you are putting money directly into the hands of student parents. Higher education is costly enough without the additional expense of raising a family. Research has clearly shown that increasing a parent’s educational achievement leads to greater opportunities for the children’s futures when it comes to pursuing college and lifelong learning.

What is childcare tuition assistance?

The Office of Family Resources Child Care Tuition Assistance program provides financial support for undergraduate student parents to help cover the cost of childcare expenses. This can include daycare, pre-k, and before and after school programs for children in K-6 programs and camps.

How do student parents apply for assistance?

Priority deadline for applications for child care tuition assistance are due the spring before attendance to align with other financial aid offerings. After the priority deadline awards are given on a rolling basis based on the remaining budget.

Application will soon be offered through Academic Works. If you have any questions about the program or would like to apply for assistance please contact the UMass Office of Family Resources!

How is the program funded?

One of the main sources of our funding is contributed by our generous students. On their tuition bill they will see:

Child Care Fee (optional)

The Child Care Fee is a contribution to the child care assistance program on campus that provides eligible undergraduate parents assistance with paying child care costs. The child care fee is completely voluntary, and therefore can be waived if desired. Child care fees are waived through a student’s SPIRE access.

We are participating in Power Hour #7 on April 27th from 3:00-4:00 pm. If we get the most gifts from unique donors during that time, we get a $2,000 bonus! Please help us reach our goal!
