The UMass Ski and Board Club is the oldest club at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and is dedicated to making alpine sports more accessible to the UMass community by providing students with affordable trips in both New England and Canada. We are open to all ages and skill levels, and encourage people to pick up the sport that we are so passionate about.
On top of our massive trip to ski Mount Saint Ann in Quebec City and our week long trip to Killington Mountain in Vermont, the club runs multiple day trips to a variety of mountains across New England. We also host an annual Rail Jam Winter Festival open to the entire community that includes live music, food, and prizes from our sponsors.
The reason we are trying to raise more money for the club is because our ability to provide students with these opportunities is being compromised due to a lack of funds. Last year our budget was cut by approximately 60%, and this year it will potentially decrease by 65%. We use this money to supplement the cost students pay to attend these trips, and as the prices of day passes have skyrocketed in the past few years, it’s become increasingly challenging for us to do so. Unfortunately, under the current amount of money allocated to the club, next year we cannot afford to run all of the events and day trips that we have in the past.
We don’t see UMSBC as just a club – to us it’s a family of people who love being on the mountain, and if we want to see it grow and prosper in the upcoming years we need all the help we can get from you as donations! All money raised will go towards providing more discounted trips to the students of UMass!
Thank you!!
