“The radio voice of UMass Amherst”. For 70 years, WMUA has represented the students of UMass and provided opportunities for them to pursue careers in media. Throughout its history, WMUA has grown up a loyal listener base and produced some of the finest alums who have gone on to successful careers across the world. Today, WMUA produces hundreds of hours of content per week, including music programs that include every genre one can imagine, daily award-winning student news and a growing sports department. In 2017, the station added asecond online stream, called WMUAx, to provide even more opportunities for students to get on the air.
During UMass Gives, we hope to raise money so that WMUA can continue for another 70 years. The current leaders of WMUA want to set the future of the station on the right financial track. Within the next five years, we will be moving to a new location in the soon-to-be renovated Student Union building. In order to assure the smoothest financial transition and account for moving expenses, we hope to build a strong capital to assure that the leadership of WMUA during the transition does not have to worry about financial issues.
Your donation to WMUA will go a long way to assuring that the dreams of our future DJ’s, news reporters and sports broadcasters may come true. For every dollar you give, it is another step closer to WMUA helping the next Audie Cornish, Charlie Pellitt or Marc Bertrand follow their dreams. We hope that you decide to donate to WMUA, because it will be a commitment to the next generation of students who come through WMUA.
