The Graduate School plays an essential role in ensuring doctoral and master’s students feel engaged, supported, and empowered throughout their experience at UMass Amherst. Our team enhances the support students may receive from their academic department through various forms of support including direct fellowships and grants, mentoring opportunities, and numerous professional development workshops.

An investment in UMass Amherst graduate students will not only allow our team to expand upon this support; it will directly improve the graduate student experience.

The Graduate School is committed to helping doctoral students cross the finish line. The Summer Dissertation Completion Fellowship provides critical financial support—an $8,000 stipend and structured writing assistance—to help students in the Humanities, Fine Arts, and Social & Behavioral Sciences make significant progress toward completing their dissertations.

Your donation will:

  • Alleviate financial burdens so students can focus solely on their research

  • Provide structured mentorship and writing support

  • Empower future scholars to make meaningful contributions to their fields

Our Graduate Student Wellness Fundis a vital resource that provides flexible support to students when they need it most. Contributions to this fund help address a wide range of needs — from unforeseen personal emergencies and special circumstances to professional development opportunities and travel that fall outside regular departmental funding.

Your gift can help a student:

  • Pursue special research or professional opportunities
  • Offset unforeseen expenses affecting their experience.
  • Stay focused on their academic and professional goals.
