Board of Student Businesses

Welcome to BoSB! The Board of Student Businesses (BoSB) is the collective effort of all six not-for-profit student-run cooperatives on campus. Representatives of each business meet weekly to coordinate cross-business collaborations, educational conferences, and community outreach events. BoSB is a space where the six businesses join in support of each other and our communities. Together, we strive to uphold the Rochdale principles for cooperative operation, holding each other accountable to common values. Concern for community is a Rochdale principle that is especially important to BoSB, and is at the heart of everything we do.

As fully student-run cooperatives, each business operates democratically and works as a team to effectively manage all aspects of our respective businesses. The businesses represented by BoSB include the UMass Bike Coop, Earthfoods Café, Greeno Sub Shop, People’s Market, Sweets & More, and the Sylvan Snack Bar. Five out of the six businesses listed above are dining locations on campus that serve as accessible alternatives to the dining halls and are conveniently located in residential areas as well as the campus center. These eateries together serve hundreds of students per day, collectively contributing to the nourishment and well-being of our student community. In addition to feeding the masses, BoSB is also joined by the UMass Bike Coop, a reliable bike repair shop that supports student transportation needs with a team of experienced, trained mechanics who can assist with practically every repair one would need!

In donating to BoSB during this UMass Gives season, you will be directly contributing to student welfare by helping us serve our communities! With your help, we can continue to offer our services even in the face of financial strains, such as pesky equipment breakages! Your donation will manifest in equipment fixes and budget expansions for the betterment of our services and the students who rely on us.

Help us win a cash bonus by getting us over 115 donations in our power hour, between 1pm-2pm April 30th!
