Science Stories

We are Science Stories! A graduate student organization of STEM students with a goal to engage the general public with scientific discourse and to promote science education and communication!

We believe that science is for everyone! Through live events, blog posts, and workshops, we invite our Western Massachusetts communities (and beyond!) to learn about science, share their knowledge and skills, and make new connections with the world around them!

We began in 2011 as Life Science Cafe, an event series of public interviews with local scientists. In 2023, Life Science Cafe joined forces with That's Life [Science], a science communication blog run by graduate students in STEM at UMass Amherst. Together, we became Science Stories!

We look forward to enriching our programming through the help of UMass Gives! The money raised here will allow us to: host more workshops for the public to engage with science, facilitate events with local schools to inspire curiosity, and to improve the opportunities for graduate students to be involved with scientific outreach!
