Support UMassBRUT: Preserving Our Brutalist Legacy
UMassBRUT is a statewide campaign dedicated to celebrating, conserving, and reimagining the mid-century Brutalist architecture found across the University of Massachusetts campuses. Through public tours, academic symposia, educational programs, exhibitions, and cross-disciplinary research and collaborations, UMassBRUT inspires appreciation for the history and design of these iconic buildings and advocates for their preservation as a vital climate action strategy.
Retrofitting and reusing concrete buildings is more than an act of preservation, it’s climate action. By safeguarding our Brutalist heritage, we reduce embodied carbon, promote sustainable design, and invigorate these structures with renewed purpose for future generations.

- Empower Student Engagement: Gifts directly support cross-disciplinary student projects, research, and creative work that highlight the importance of architectural conservation.
- Advance Preservation and Education: Donations sustain annual programs, campus tours, exhibitions, and outreach efforts that foster stewardship and innovative adaptation of UMass’s Brutalist buildings for future generations.
