Landscape Architecture & Regional Planning

At the UMass Amherst Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning (LARP), students gain the skills to help communities achieve their goals for the future, from designing climate-resilient landscapes to creating the plans that support affordable housing, transportation, economic development, and more.

During UMass Gives 2026, you can empower LARP students to become the next generation of changemakers.

This year, we hope you will consider making a gift to the Waugh Alumni Board Scholarship Fundwhich honors our department’s founder, Frank A. Waugh, and was established by the LARP alumni board to support student professional development opportunities.

In 2025, the Waugh Fund helped our department send more students than ever to the American Society of Landscape Architects Conference in New Orleans, LA, and the Southern New England American Planning Association Conference in Newport, RI. Experiences like these help our students expand their networks, sharpen their skills, and take the next steps in their careers.

We hope you will join us in making a positive difference in the lives of our students and the communities they aim to serve. Help us reach our $100,000 goal!

On April 29th, from 12-1 p.m., LARP will compete with other UMass programs to raise the greatest number of gifts within the hour. If you make a gift of $5 or more to the Waugh Alumni Board Scholarship during this “Power Hour,” you can help LARP win $2000 in bonus money!

Thank you for your generous support!
