Invest in the Future of Sustainability: Support the SES Student Experiences Program

The School of Earth & Sustainability (SES) serves as the university’s central hub and convener for regional excellence. Our 2026 UMassGives campaign centers on our students and the SES Living Lab training model, a coordinated network that maximizes learning, innovation, and efficiency. By moving beyond traditional, siloed expertise, we link students with a diverse range of specialists and centers of excellence across the entire pan-campus network. This infrastructure creates a proven pipeline that moves students from the classroom into meaningful, impactful careers within the Commonwealth’s green and blue economies.

Our Impact: Real Students and Staff in Action

Your support directly funds the Student Experiences Program, fueling the work of the leaders and innovators who are already making a tangible difference on campus and throughout the region:

Noha Amin: Partnering with Ben Weil and the City of Northampton Schools to develop a practical decarbonization plan that bridges university expertise with municipal climate goals.

Roisin Kirby: Leading the way in climate literacy initiatives to empower the next generation with essential environmental knowledge.

Matt L'Ecuyer: Serving as the SGA Secretary of Sustainability and a critical link in the Student Sustainability Coalition, bridging the gap between campus operations and student advocacy.

Hailey Ellison: Helping to bring the Winter School to students at UMass and around the globe, making this international training opportunity accessible to all.

Marina Bromley: Curating the Sustainable Solution Lecture Series to connect our academic community with industry visionaries.

Fatimah Rashid: Helping to advance SES practices in community and student engagement within the space of sustainability planning, ensuring our regional efforts are inclusive and equitable.

Why Your Gift Matters

With 64 percent of UMass bachelor’s recipients staying in Massachusetts to work, SES provides the essential transdisciplinary agility needed to solve complex climate and sustainability challenges. We are not just preparing a technical workforce; we are cultivating ethically grounded, values-minded individuals dedicated to the common good.

Your donation directly supports the Student Experiences Program, including:

  • Paid Student Experiences: Providing the financial support necessary for students to dedicate themselves to high impact research and regional sustainability projects.
  • Climate Literacy Initiative: Developing the educational tools needed for a climate-resilient future.
  • UN Sustainable Solutions Winter School: Providing intensive, global-standard training for local impact.

Join the Movement

We are activating a network rooted in a proud history of student activism and innovation that is now purposefully aligned with state, regional, and global priorities. At this pivotal moment in history, SES is proud to partner with visionaries across the region to ensure Massachusetts remains a national vanguard for sustainability, justice, and climate action.

Give to SES today and invest in the students who will lead us tomorrow.
