At the Center for Latin American, Caribbean, and Latino Studies (CLACLS), we believe that education transforms lives, and that meaningful learning happens when students engage directly with the communities and regions they study. 

Each year, CLACLS empowers undergraduate and graduate students at University of Massachusetts Amherst to pursue research, community-based projects, and global learning experiences connected with Latin America, the Caribbean, and U.S. Latino communities. These opportunities are often life-changing, but they are not always accessible without financial support.

Donations to CLACLS directly fund student scholarships and awards that: 

Expand access to education by supporting students from all disciplines in pursuing research and community engagement 

• Recognize student leadership through the Community Project Award, which connects academic learning with real-world impact 

• Invest in early-stage research for undergraduates exploring topics that often lack dedicated funding 

• Advance graduate research through Pre-Dissertation Awards that help students launch meaningful academic projects

During this hour, the campus unit with the highest number of donations wins additional funding. That means your participation matters more than the amount you give. A small gift, combined with many others, can help CLACLS secure extra funds for students.
