From May 3 to 14, Fringe Fest ‘26 will feature seven original works, ranging from autobiographical musings to supernatural escapades, all of them written by our students.

Our Fringe Fest, an annual tradition, is by students and for students. Many of the students who have produced in past festivals cite it as an artistic milestone, a moment of taking ownership of their craft. For the first time, they and their creative collaborators manage everything from casting to rehearsal space bookings to lining up ushers.

Faculty and staff are there mainly to offer advice — except when a production encounters financial need. Even the most low-tech staged reading comes with expenses. There are scripts to copy, costumes to source, and set pieces to build.

That’s why we’re raising money for this and future Fringe Fests during this year’s UMass Gives. A donation to our UMass Gives campaign is a donation in support of our up-and-coming theater-makers. $20 to buy an unanticipated prop can make a world of difference to a Fringe show.
