UMassGives 2025

Support UMass Journalism during this two-day campaign!

We are excited to offer opportunities that give students access to numerous career-focused classes, events, workshops, and invaluable hands-on experiences. With your help, a new generation of students can learn to elevate and sharpen their skills to make journalism and public relations more equitable and just for the future of democracy.

Your support provides students with annual scholarships, access to events with high-profile alumni and speakers and offer stipends for unpaid internships. This gives them the financial freedom to pursue their passions for producing, editing, reporting, writing, public relations, sports, photography, video and design.

Your gifts will also help fund equipment upgrades for our students. We were able to purchase new audio recorders last year to help them produce high-quality podcasts, and hope to soon get them new cameras and access to industry-standard analytics platforms. Investing in these resources allows us to offer collaborative spaces for students to refine their craft and use their voices for reporting, storytelling and strengthening civic relationships.

Journalism and public relations are critical to our democratic society.

Your support ensures our students continue to gain the professional skills and experiential learning opportunities that are vital to their success in a competitive job market. It also ensures our communities’ stories will continue to get told and that we’re able to uphold democratic values, informed civic engagement and the watchdogs needed for representative self-governance to function as it should.
