2025 UMass Gives for the Public Interest Technology Initiative

The Public Interest Technology Initiative at UMass (PIT@UMass) was established with the ambitious goal of promoting the common good and public interest through the responsible creation, use, and management of technology.  Our coordinated set of programs are characterized by innovative pedagogy, experiential learning, interdisciplinary research, and community engagement. They seek to empower today’s and tomorrow’s workforce to navigate the challenges of a tech-driven world with ethics, empathy, and social responsibility.

PIT@UMass is prepared to serve students and faculty wherever they are on their educational journey with programming that includes:

  • PIT Residential Academic Program for incoming students to find and build PIT community and ease the transition to college life
  • Intro to PIT (Gen Ed) class for all students across campus
  • PIT Undergraduate Certificate to document skills and knowledge
  • PIT Clinics Course with opportunities for hands-on, real-world, experiential learning projects sponsored by cross-sector partners
  • High-impact fellowship and internship programs
  • PIT online Graduate Certificate
  • Interdisciplinary and creative Faculty Fellows program

Your support of PIT@UMass enables our students to develop and realize socially responsible solutions to the challenges of a technology-driven world. We are grateful for every dollar donated and will use the money for scholarships for student internships and high-impact learning experiences.

PIT serves as a critical foundation for 21st century education, for people who create technologies, and for those who work with them, which is all of us.

Thank you!
