Here at UMass Amherst, we support Hispanic students during their college journey by offering a variety of events and resources that range from professional workshops to social activities. We strive to hold events every week to build a Hispanic community on campus where everyone feels welcome and comfortable. Some events we host include Zoom meetings with engineering companies, company tours in Boston, study sessions, outreach events with local high schools to promote STEM, collaborations with other campus clubs, game nights, cultural nights, and more. One of our biggest events is the SHPE National Convention. Every year, SHPE National organizes this convention, where all the chapters in the country come together to attend several technical and academic workshops. Students also have the opportunity to present their research and participate in a two-day career fair with more than 350 exhibitors. This is the largest gathering of Hispanics in STEM and a great chance to interact with industry leaders and peers. The convention is held in a different state each year, requiring extensive planning and funding, as we aim to take as many people as possible. To continue hosting events and attending the National Convention, we need your support. Even a small contribution can make a difference.
