The Boltwood Project is a student-run service-learning organization which provides social inclusion opportunities for UMass students and local community members with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Students plan and conduct weekly activity sessions for children and adults with various abilities throughout the greater Connecticut River Valley during which they engage in games, arts and crafts, sports, and more. Boltwood also engages in public policy advocacy with and for people with disabilities. Students learn about social and political issues surrounding disability through presentations given by people and their families who have lived experience with a disability or who work with people who have disabilities. We will use the money raised to compensate these speakers for their time, to buy necessary supplies for our weekly activity sessions, and to defray expenses related to our advocacy efforts.
