Rights for musicals are bananas expensive. Set materials can add up to a pretty penny pretty quickly. Copying a batch of scripts can strain a wallet.

Inspired by the famous festival in Edinburgh, which offers up a wildly varied collection of events, our Fringe Fest celebrates our students’ creativity. For many students who are part of it, Fringe is their first time taking a production from concept to completion. They pick the projects, the casts, the production teams and crews. They write the plays or create the events. They run the rehearsals and performances.

Most shows are run on a shoestring budget, and sometimes, they need a little help stretching those budgets.

That’s where this year’s UMass Gives comes in. From expensive rights fees to unanticipated incidentals, our Fringe Fest fund exists to help our students execute their Fringe Fest visions.

A donation to the fund has a direct impact on students’ work, and many participants cite Fringe as a formative experience.

Can you help with a gift to support this vital experience for our up and coming theater-makers?

Thank you.
