UMass Emergency Medical Services

UMass Amherst Emergency Medical Services was founded in 1953, and since then, we have grown to an agency of 129 members strong, providing emergency medical care to the campus community through staffing both small-scale events and large-scale events like home football games, concerts, and annual commencement ceremonies. We also provide education through teaching CPR, AED, and First Aid classes, as well as an EMT course to help train new EMTs to enter the field of medicine. Since our founding, we have been a solely student-run agency and have built community safety partnerships throughout the surrounding Pioneer Valley.

During UMassGives, we hope to raise money for new equipment and enhance our on-campus operations to help support our expanding post-pandemic shift presence, like medically-equipped gators. We also hope to gain donations to fund and support our EMT Course, which we hope to bring back in the fall for the first time post-pandemic to help fill the need for medical personnel nationwide, as well as help fund our CPR program to train more individuals to respond to a health emergency. We also hope to gain donations to expand and provide new, informative training opportunities for our members to help train them for any situation or emergency, like responding to a mass casualty incident or assisting college-aged students suffering from a mental health emergency.
